Water Treatment Plant

In 2013, the City constructed a water treatment plant. The water treatment plant is designed to remove arsenic and manganese for the municipal water supply. During low demand all of the water will be filtered and during hot summer months a portion of the city’s water supply will be filtered to maintain the level of arsenic below the maximum limit and provide the necessary water to the system. The water will be chlorinated at all times as required by State regulations to prevent any bacteria from being present in the filter system which could cause health concerns for the water supply.

Elementary Park Subdivision

The new Elementary Park Subdivision is where the former Stromsburg Elementary School once stood at the corner of 9th and Ekeley Streets. It has been transformed into 22 large lots with a cul-de-sac drive. The lots range in price from $19,000-$28,000. If you have any questions about the project, please contact a Come Grow With Us committee member, Dennis Koinzan, Doug Lamoree, Troy Lindsley, LeRoy Gerrard, Mike Branting, Brent Hollinger, Ben Berggren or Jim Papik.

Fire Building

The City of Stromsburg’s Fire Department merged with the Stromsburg Rural Fire Department in July of 2011. In April 2011, the Stromsburg Rural Fire Department purchased the lot at 415 Commercial for their new building. The new Fire Department and Ambulance Building opened in 2013. The building is 75’ x 142’ which is double the space of the previous fire hall. It is able to house all five fire trucks and two ambulances.
